My name is Raquel Marques and I am a Registered Massage Therapist. I’m a recent graduate of the Massage Therapy program at Humber College with Honours, and I previously obtained my BA in Kinesiology and Health Sciences from York University. During my 3-year program at Humber, I completed a total of 6 different placements that dealt with a variety of patient populations. I’ve worked with prenatal and postpartum, general population, mental health, neurological conditions, infancy/children, palliative care in a variety of locations including Sick Kids, Neurochangers, Michael Garron Withdrawal Centre, Circle of Care and Black Creek Health Care Centre.
I’ve always had an interest in human biology and decided to continue this through my post-secondary education which landed me in this career path. My passion for massage therapy began as a teenager as I’ve performed a variety of different sports including karate, volleyball, gymnastics, flag-football, soccer, tennis and many more. I’ve played a total of 15 different sports and counting, which means I’m no stranger to the approach of multi-disciplinary clinics.
I’m passionate in helping patients return to their activities of daily living in a holistic approach that is focused on client-centered care. Whenever I work with a patient, my main goal is to have them apart of the treatment process, as well as create an environment where communication is important to achieve all the patients’ goals. As a progress within my career, I’m interested in focusing my approach within sports rehabilitation as well as, prenatal and postpartum care. I’m very excited to embark on this journey with Functional Body Institute and continue to learn from my fellow practitioners at the clinic.
